I have been terribly neglectful of this site, despite the fact that it is one of my very favorite projects. Really, I swear.
But the thing about the 32 for 32 project is that there is an awful lot of doing involved in plowing through this list and that leaves less time for writing about it.
I have been busy though...
Here are my updates: (they're pretty awesome...)
Really they are.
First and fabulously, there was a stakeout! A real one. My assistant, Jen, Catherine Cassidy of Ustyled, and I hit La Cienega last Thursday the 5th and staked out (what is the past tense of stakeout, anyway?) a couple of bars.
Now granted, it was only 5pm- we didn't want to keep you east coast viewers up too late, after all, but we still saw some sights. A grown man in Mom jeans was a big highlight. Most women know better than to wear those things these days, let alone men.
You can also witness me dumping a box of donuts on my own lap- I couldn't seem to open the thing right side up- as well as a thermos of coffee on the floor. It's delightful. It's posted.
If you missed the live broadcast, don't fret. It's right here on the site. Yay! So #32 is done! But there will be more stakeouts to come. This thing is bigger than just one dream now. It's got a life of its own.
#20: I have been getting the produce box and thanks to these magical green bags that I got at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I have been able to spread the veggies I get over the two week span between arrivals and cook them up.
My latest and greatest: brussels sprouts sliced thin-ish and sauteed in the frying pan in a generous helping of olive oil and garlic. Made it last night with my friend Amy and it was magic.
Also- if you haven't made roll-it-yourself sushi with quinoa and sliced veggies you must. it is a fantastic treat.
#24: I saw a crazy play with several college friends in it: The Conquest of the South Pole at the Elephant Lab theater on Santa Monica. It was a wild ride. It's going through November 22. Buy your tickets here. Now watch the trailer to see what you shall see:
Tonight, I am going to see the tech rehearsal of my neighbor Sam's production of the Odyssey at a high school in Pasadena. It will involve the music of the Pet Shop Boys and Bjork. I am pretty goddamn stoked.
It's been a good stretch for theater. Next, I need to get my hands on some live music.
#10. I've found a wingman to go see the museum of Jurrasic technology. I am pretty excited about this. We almost went on Sunday, before we realized that our sense of what was possible in the limited hours of the day was severely compromised.
Instead, we went to Madame Matisse on Sunset for Huevos Ranchero and Chef's Revenge. Yum. The museum will be soon. I am excited!
Look at this crazy thing! Is it a typewriter or a camera or a projector?
I have no idea, but I am going to find out. Yessir, I am.
#27: Many thanks to my stepmother Anne, who had an inspired fit of generosity in the Macy's in Santa Barbara last friday. I now have six new delightful pairs of underwear an as many new bras. I feel much better about the underwear and did a thorough clean-out of those that needed to be retired to that laundry line in the sky.
We are getting there, panty drawer!
And finally, #16: get Jackie Page's help with my apartment.
This lady is a marvel. She came back to touch up all my oops spots with my paint and now all the walls, the office and the kitchen look amazing. She didn't even bat an eye when I forgot she was coming over because I had a gentleman caller at my place that Sunday. Oops. They did get along and all was well. I am keeping progress on #6 on the DL for the moment. Everyone I am interested in is smart enough to know about this site. So I shall keep my trap shut.
Thank you for your support on this exciting ride through the state of the 32 for 32 adventure this 11th day of November.
It's 11-11! Make a wish. Tell us what it is below, if you dare...
