As I promised yesterday, here is my list. It was amusing to have people vying for certain items, and when one of them was achieved just yesterday, there was a debate as to whether it should be replaced with another one for the year. I don't feel I am limiting myself to only 31 things. It is more that I feel I sold myself short a little bit last year, and let things happening around me keep me from doing what I dreamed of some of the time. As a coach, I cannot let myself lose the momentum that I hope to nurture and inspire in my clients. So I WILL get these 31 things done this year, as a tribute to myself and to those I work with every week who break out of the box and take scary steps forward all the time. I'm in there with you... so here's my list:

31 things to do while 31 (many thanks to Keri Smith, who wrote about 30 things she wanted to do while 30 and made me realize I could get more out of 31):
- Go running regularly. (3-4 days a week) already did this today!
- Get back to yoga (2 times a week)
- Have a cup of tea in the morning.
- Finish a decent draft of the novel I have been working on for nearly a year- am signed up for a class starting 9-8 to help me do just that.
- Publish 2 articles. (Got word last night that two pieces from this site are going in a book Kirtsy is putting out- it was a great birthday present to hear this. So- do I just cross this one off, or do I have to replace it with another one? You vote.)
- Read Proust and Mishima (like I promised Kalyanee I would last year...)
- Find a new beautiful apartment. (if you know of anything in Los Feliz, Silver Lake, or WeHo, please let me know!)
- Create a working schedule and stick to it. I might have to go with Gwen's model and do it school-style and put it up on a board.
- Finish a short story I have been working on and submit it for publication.
- Shoot a new photography project. I have been away from the camera too long.
- Knit a pair of socks on one long needle.
- Buy a pair of cowboy boots. I always say I want them, but can never decide on a pair. Frye is looking pretty good lately...
- Sew a dress. (this will probably involve some frantic calls to Tereneh and Ruth along the way, but I will no longer be afraid of sewing!)
- Build up my client caseload and offer more workshops.
- Burn the candles and incense I have around the house- use the beautiful things I have instead of just letting them sit.
- Write a real letter at least once a week.
- Live larger- say yes to adventures that are offered to me.
- Paint, draw, and make more art.
- get back to my mom's house in New Hampshire for a visit. Visit Maine.
- Start a sitting practice again.
- Pare my possessions down to only those things I find beautiful or know to be useful.
- Go sailing. Maybe lessons?
- Go to Big Sur. (a standing item.)
- Show my photos or artwork in a gallery.
- Get an Etsy shop going.
- Have sex. Crass, but true. For those who hav recently broken up, as I have, there is always the fear it will never happen again. It goes without saying that I am only interested in consentual and enjoyable sex. And no weird one-night stands. Ok- enough with the disclaimers.
- Play tennis. Or try to.
- Get a breadmaker and use it.
- Have a dinner party and cook it all myself.
- Design a knitting pattern.
- Get a new tattoo. Have been wanting to transform the one I have for quite a while, now. Hopefully I can find an artist who is up to the challenge.
So that's the list. There was a campaign to replace the publishing the articles one with rockclimbing, but I think that's still covered under say yes to adventures. That is my get out of jail or at least live well and widely clause.
Do you have lists that you are working through? Let me know... I'd love to hear about them.
