my big 3-0 style statement session
some of you may know about carrie&danielle, the vancouver-based canadian pair who dreamed up the idea of a style statement. this is simply a personal brand: two words that sum up who you are in life and how you can hold your focus on your best. check out their site for a more eloquent manifesto on the subject.
i read about them in domino magazine and, most likely, in decor8 as well and decided a session was the perfect present to give myself for the big 3-0. i've just completed the first part of the process, an in-depth interview about all that i love, value, and also where i give myself a hard time. the questions were fun and illuminating as well as unexpected. i really enjoyed speaking with danielle and found it easy to just spout off on any old topic she threw at me due to the total ease and safety that she provided (she's pictured above on the right, with business partner, carrie). she is now off cooking on what we talked about and when she returns i will have a style statement just for me. i'll return with the verdict...

the verdict has been reached and delivered.
i am "creative refinement." i love it. i was a bit worried earlier today that i would not connect with my statement or that the experience wouldn't live up to my hopes since i have been waiting for such a long time to do it. (it took me a little while to save up for the session and i wanted it quite close to the big 3-0)
mostly, i love the affirmation of the creative being my foundation. this has always felt true for me, but doing the work that i do it feels essential to know this. knowing this reaffirms my commitment to live creatively and passionately and from that place alone. i know there are many people who also feel this way and it is my greatest wish to serve them and help them move forward in this process.
danielle was articulate and helpful and offered a number of suggestions she said i "could take or leave" and presented them just as intuitive hits but they were all absolutely right on. i am so grateful for her guidance and the opportunity i had to speak with her.
carrie&danielle have a book coming out in april of 2008, which looks like it will be a beautiful and inspiring addition to any library. in the meantime, their "friday focus" newsletter is a must read with wonderful tips and inspiration that i devour on a weekly basis. i look forward to adding my style statement awareness to my consideration of their pithy and eloquent suggestions.
if you'd like to book a style statement session, get a friend to book one two and you'll save $50 off the session price. (this deal is posted on their site.)
to book a session, email them. you will not regret the investment. i highly recommend it. i will share more as i integrate this new knowledge into my life.
thank you again, danielle. such a pleasure to experience this work.

Thanks for the tip - and even more.. reminding me that I paid for a subscription to Domino a year ago.. and even after complaining have never received even one issue - GAH!!
